Sorry we haven't been updating lately! This is just brief post before we fill you in on more things from Kartel and Joe Flizzow. From Live and Loud KL-Turn on the Pop, 1st Dec 2007 where Joe performs to show support for the event which was organised by friend Reymee Hussein (former member of Innuendo). Joe was the only hip hop act in the local repoirtoire that included Noryn Aziz, Annuar Zain, Jac Victor, Lah, Mode and Azan. The night started with the local acts and was followed by Shaggy and Whitney Housten.

DJ T-Bone and Big E were on the decks, while Phlowtron's Poi and the B-boys from SG fronted the stage with Joe. The KL b-boy crew weren't able to join this time round as they were tied up with a local breakdance competition that happened on the same day. Unfortunately for the boys however, they couldn't do much on the stage due to the wet floor as it rained. Joe Flizzow and Kartel will be performing in some great events this November some are listed below but please keep on reading as we'll be updating his activities often!

SYIDA LIZTA AMIRUL IHSAN discovers hip-hop star Joe Flizzow has KL on his head.
TOO Phat’s Joe Flizzow is a fan of baseball caps. No surprise there. He’s into hip-hop and those caps are hip-hoppers’ staple. So years ago he would wear caps emblazoned with NY and LA, after the American baseball teams New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.Somewhere along the line, he thought, “Hey, why am I wearing the initials of a city that is not home?” And that sparked the idea of his successful KL Cap two years ago. Last August we wrote a short post on Joe Flizzow's KL Cap. (Read here). We told you to expect more from him...well two months on, we're proud to present you.... STATE OF MINE CAPS by Kartel Clothing. Read the official press release below.
"Love Your City", State of Mine
This is the tagline for Joe Flizzow’s new brand under the Kartel Clothing called ‘State of Mine Caps’.
It all started with the birth of the KL cap, back in 2005. A cap to commemorate Joe’s love for the city and the country. It was a cap that was only the beginning of Joe Flizzow’s idea of unity. The KL cap represented pride “Love your city, represent where you’re from, be proud of who you are”. The KL cap was just the start to a bigger picture.
Two years on, the KL cap can be seen everywhere. Worn by locals and foreigners alike, preferred now by youngsters over the ‘LA’,‘NY’ caps usually worn as fashion. The KL cap has made its point.
Joe Flizzow presents the second phase to his vision under one brand called ‘State of Mine’. A vision that drives home the idea that no matter what race, background or age, you are, you can stand united with a cap. Love where you come from, be proud of your country and show it by holding your head up high and wearing it.

Listen to Joe Flizzow's interview on Alchemy's "The Asian Pop Show". An interview done while he was in Australia early this month.
We've been saying Joe's been real busy lately. Just cuz you don't see him in the local news and events, it doesn't mean he's not been doing anything! Simply put, Joe's been keeping "international" lately. Last August, Joe Flizzow and DJ T-Bone headed up a concert in Aceh with Big Poi (Phlowtron), Cat Farish and his B-boys to support. "From Aceh with Love, Joe Flizzow of Too Phat" was a huge success. Check out these links for more info:
Awhile ago Joe Flizzow was invited by Tattlelife.com to have dinner with them for their regular article called "Table For Four". In Table For Four, the writer, Erman Akinci invites three local celebrities, personalities or friends to have to have dinner with him and talk about subjects of interest to him. So, Erman Akinci invited singer Camelia, DJ Gabriel and Joe Flizzow to talk about the Malaysian music scene. This is was was said about Joe,
"I found not only a passionate artist but also a savvy businessman to boot. His
knowledge of his art & his craft really impressed me along with his deep insight into the challenges of merging hip hop culture with mainstream Malaysian culture. What he said to me towards the end really made an impression. Joe: One thing I love about rapping...hip hop is more detailed...music, it has the ability to really send a message. He can say that again."
Really sorry we haven't been updating this blog but its been hectic lately. We'll be posting some stuff up soon about where Joe's been and what he's been up as soon as we can some photos in! In the meantime, some side news....this was sent to us from the "Miss Lebanon Groupies" club (Malaysia) who gave her a KL cap as a souvenier while she was down here in KL recently.
