Teh Tarik with Joe Flizzow

Early this year, Joe Flizzow was invited by F&N Dairies to do a 6-part series for them. It was a column in Harian Metro called 'Teh Tarik with Joe Flizzow' which started on the 19th of January 2007.

The idea of the column was for Joe to have "casual stallfood talk" with some of his industry friends about anything really.

Budding actress Syarifah Amani (actress) talks about her career, singer Siti Nurhaliza confides in her dream of opening a restaurant. Performer, Afdlin Shauki talks about "opening people's minds", producer Yassin discusses music trends and his move towards "world music", Cat Farish reveals his side of the story and how Indonesian actress Dian Sastrowardoyo says she's going back to school.

"March 14, 2007
Teh Tarik with Joe Flizzow of Too Phat was F&N Dairies’ latest creative effort to communicate with its legion of teh tarik followers, providing an insight of the latest happenings within Malaysia’s celebrity fraternity.

Helmed by Joe Flizzow, one half of Malaysia’s top rap group Too Phat, Joe interviewed the ‘Who’s who’ in the entertainment arena on a broad range of lifestyle topics over a glass of teh tarik. "

Joe Flizzow - Nike AF1 Ambassador (Malaysia)

Everyone knows Joe Flizz is a sneaker head.

So when Nike approached him late last year to help them celebrate the 25th birthday of AF1s as their ambassador; there was no question as to what his answer would be. If that wasn't enough, Nike also invited him to write a song for the occassion as part of their world wide 25th Anniversary celebrations.

American Hip Hop heavyweights Nas, Rakim, Kanye and KRS1 celebrated in huge way at Gotham Hall (New York), so did Germany, Canada, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong etc each with their own unique party signatures.

Here in Malaysia, Joe Flizzow along with Point Blank were the two selected to REPRESENT. Joe's single called 'Get It Done' (Force Ones) features Yg Ariff (KLG Sqwad), was produced by DJ T-Bone and DJ Goldfish, mixed & mastered by Roslan Aziz. The party was held on the 25th of January at Avenue K's Bond.

Deputy Prime Minister Checks Out Rebirth Into Reality

Had to post this up. Pretty cool to see Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak check out Too Phat's "Rebirth Into Reality" (sent to him via representatives from Joe Flizzow).

Here's an exclusive report of the moment when the DPM received the Too Phat package. Many thanks to our contributor!

When the DPM was given Too Phat's album, Rebirth Into Reality (after an exclusive press interview about Merdeka and his father Tun Razak, Bapa Pembangunan) he thought the album was by an international group.
He said, "its funny isn't it, that when we were young, our father didn't understand our we don't understand our children's music. Hip hop? Is this American?"
When told Too Phat's local he looked surprised.

He was told by the person who gave him that Too Phat was an example of a GLOKAL - his own coinage of a word to describe a local who has brought his ideas, work, craft, business etc beyond Malaysian shores. A local who thinks global is a glokal, and according to Datuk Seri Najib every Malaysian must strive to be a glokal.
After scrutinising the album signed by Joe Flizzow with the words "To YAB Datuk Seri Najib, Thank you for your leadership"- he told his press secretary, "we'll listen to this on the way to Melaka." (where he was going that afternoon). - 6 July 2007
