Youth 'O8

What a day Saturday it turned out to be for Joe! First it was Youth '08 and then stopping by at KL's latest skate shop - Push. But first ,Youth'08 which turned out to be a lot of fun for Joe. First of all, we weren't sure what to expect from this event. It was split into several halls within PWTC. The 3rd floor was where all the action was with nearly all of the KL's indie brands out in full force; tshirt designers, marketing arms, fashion and accessories, graffitti artistes etc. Joe had a great time talking to some of the young entreprenuers there. Some even did a few impromptu "pitches" to him for future collabos. Pop Malaya, Don't Panic, I heart KL....it was cool to meet up with you guys! Great work and we look forward to seeing more from you this year!

Joe performed on the 4th Floor on that Saturday instead of 3rd which was why most missed out on it. But Joe was invited by Tunes.com who were there to promote their debit cards which was he also set up his KL Cap booth in their area. Thank You Tunes.com! :)
Nevertheless, the few that were there on the 4th Floor at 5pm enjoyed a very intimate set from Joe with his brother DJ Iman. Our hearts warmed to see some B-Boys who took some time out from the B-Boy competition happening on the 3rd floor to show some love. By the end of the set, Joe had his crowd captivated by his personal performance. Some were even lucky enough enough to be given KL caps by Joe himself. Enjoy the pics below!

Genuine Merchandise only at the official Kartel booth
Joe checking out his Kartel booth while waiting for his showtime
Joe and his brother DJ Iman warming up the room at the start of the set.
They were later joined by some of his B-Boy friends who managed to come up directly after battling downstairs at the 3rd floor.
The boys got the crowd excited as they showed off their skills.
DJ Iman, flashes a smile for us after the set!
SPOTTED AT YOUTH '08
Joe made some friends too. Posing here with the MIC - Malaysian Indian Congress
Joe found his cousins who were also there promoting their accessories line A Smack of JellyFish on the 3rd Floor. A Smack of Jellyfish belongs to Joe's cousin Liyana who set it up with her cousins and friends. For those of you who remember her, Liyana used to do lots of shows with Joe as his singer and has contributed to many of his Too Phat tracks including "If I Die Tonight"
Thanks to B-Boy Zero and friends for showing some love that day.

Happy New Year!

Hey all! I hope you had a great new year's eve! As for Joe Flizzow? He couldn't have asked for a better way to end the year with a live band performance of 'KL' at KLCC Park. It was an awesome night spent with some of KL's best singers and musicians. Roslan Aziz and ALI, Ella, Noryn Aziz and Ning Baizura were just some of who performed in the concert.

Here a some photos from us to share with you all. To Joe's family, friends and fans from Too Phat who continue to support him with his efforts....we'd like to send a big heartfelt THANK YOU. Your words of encouragement and belief has helped us all at Kartel and with Joe to continue the vision. To great things for 2008. The chapter continues...
Brand new KL Limited Editions just waiting to be worn
Joe's B-Boy's led by Azmi, arrived just in time all the way from having just finished a show in Singapore.
Joe and Phlowtron's Andika playing Scrabble while waiting to perform.

Joe performs 'KL' with Andika

Joe's wearing his personal line (Kartel Clothing) ...yup from cap to suit. The crowd were crazy for the B-Boys!

And went even crazier when the guys threw the brand new KL limited edition caps at the end!

We even found one of the people who caught it! An Ella fan too!
And here is Ella and Noryn Aziz hanging out with Joe backstage. This was after he had finished performing his first song, KL and was waiting to go on again to perform 1000 Verses with ALI after the countdown. It was a long wait in between!
Right after countdown, ALI (Mukhlis and Roslan Aziz) performed a set and was joined by Joe who entered from the center of the stage to perform 1000 Verses.
Joe is always happy to perform with Roslan Aziz or Abang Lan as he calls him. At the end, as always, all performers got on stage to bring home the concert. Hijau was the song performed to end the show. A good song to remind us to keep our world natural and beautiful.

Hope you enjoyed our short photo blog. Expect more from Joe and Kartel! Happy 2008. Be good to yourself and each other. Love.

Live and Loud KL - Turn on the Pop

Sorry we haven't been updating lately! This is just brief post before we fill you in on more things from Kartel and Joe Flizzow. From Live and Loud KL-Turn on the Pop, 1st Dec 2007 where Joe performs to show support for the event which was organised by friend Reymee Hussein (former member of Innuendo). Joe was the only hip hop act in the local repoirtoire that included Noryn Aziz, Annuar Zain, Jac Victor, Lah, Mode and Azan. The night started with the local acts and was followed by Shaggy and Whitney Housten.

DJ T-Bone and Big E were on the decks, while Phlowtron's Poi and the B-boys from SG fronted the stage with Joe. The KL b-boy crew weren't able to join this time round as they were tied up with a local breakdance competition that happened on the same day. Unfortunately for the boys however, they couldn't do much on the stage due to the wet floor as it rained.
Joe gets it done with Poi - Picture by Daftness

Joe performed several tracks from his old Too Phat albums among them Alhamdullilah, KL, Mariposa and Get it done - Force 1. He was surprised and pleased to see that some in the crowd already knew the Air Force 1 song too!

The crowd was good and knew most of the songs
