Quiksilver Bali Open Pictures

Hey as promised, here are some some pictures taken by Joe's manager of the event in Bali last month. Joe Flizzow, Pop Shuvit and Stylustiks were invited to perform for Quiksilver's beach party held at the Hard Rock Hotel. This was to officiate the Quiksilver Open Keramas (30 Apr-6 May) competition. The show was on the 27th of April, unfortunately it rained that night so a lot of the crowd went for shelter during the performances but the guys had a pretty good time in Bali anyway!

Yup, you saw right. Joe, Pop Shuvit and Stylustiks will be travelling to Bali this April to perform at the Quiksilver Open Keramas party at Hard Rock Hotel. It will be quite a mad party so try to make your way there!

UNITY CONCERT PICS

Approximately 800 people turned up for the Unity Concert in Klang last Friday. The show started a couple of hours behind schedule due to the crowd who only started coming in after 6pm (understandably so seeing how the traffic was quite manic). Props to the Klang crowd who were received all acts with enthusiam. The concept of "unity" amongst all races was felt that night through music; the uniting factor. It was also nice to see "young" acts being able to perform on one stage with the more seasoned acts like MC Syze, Fabulous Cats, Altimet, Sasi The Don, Reefa. Such oppurtunities should be made more available to them with more events like such as this in the future. Hosts, KLG Sqwad, Klang home favourites, put up an entertaining show complete with pyrotechnics. We hear that Unity Concert is already planning for a second event so keep an ear out for that which should be tighter and better than its debut. Joe performed at about 11pm to a supportive and appreciative crowd. It was a special night too as we saw Joe's brother Ashraf perform with his band Sakti while younger brother DJ Iman came on as Joe's turntablist. Here are some pictures, didn't get to take pictures of all the acts unfortunately so we're justing posting these up.

Okay so it rained at the beginning but people still came and were in good spirits. Joe's set started at 730pm, half hour later than scheduled. We have to admit that the sound wasn't great. We were told that the technicians were having problems as the system wasn't very stable at the time. What a shame too especially when the band started playing the "Showtime" which was full of energy but didn't quite made the impact we all wanted to see when all the mics for the emcees weren't working properly etc! Backup singers also faced the same problem throughout the set and because of that there was a lot of movement on the like switching of mics etc. Regardless, despite the sound issues, the show was good and we're so proud of Joe.

Big thanks to the hip hop fans who came to watch the show, those especially out in the front who showed so much love, appreciaion and support! To Joe's fans, friends and family....thank youuuu!!! Opening for the Roots was such and honour and thank you Sunburst KL '08 for inviting Joe and Kartel to be part of the event.

Joe's set was a showcase of Malaysian Hip Hop talent from Malaysia's number one DJ, T-Bone (Kartel Hitmen) on the decks accompanied by DJ Biggie (Kartel Hitmen) and DJ Iman to Phlowtron's Poi and Crazy Carleed, Reefa, KLG Sqwad and Terry Lee (Urban Exchange) who made up an impressive featured artistes line-up. Thanks also to the B-boys led by Azmi with a special addition of So You Think You Can Dance (Season 1)'s Alam. The best thing of this "showcase" had to be the fact that three blood brothers were on stage performing together. For those of you who don't know this about Joe, he has two other brothers who are also musicians in their own right. Ashraf is in a band called Sakti (Kartel Records) and Iman aka DJ Iman is a turntablist. For the showcase however, Ashraf supported Joe by being part of the backing vocals and was featured during 'Mariposa' while Iman played alongside DJ T-Bone and DJ Biggie and was featured at the beginning of the set.

Joe later came to check out the set-up. He basically worked with The Kartel crew while he was in tour in China last month to get everything organised for the show. No easy task considering that a band was involved.

We're so excited to post this one up. Joe's featured in Japanese magazine - Pop Asia. It's a 3-page coverage. Journalist ASA AGESHI was down in Kuala Lumpur last year and interviewed him on his views on Asian Hip Hop, State Of Mine Caps, Too Phat and his solo career. Thanks Asa. Great spread!
